Ground to Glass – Last planting of Rogue Dare™ Barley

With less than a month left in 2012, all the major work at Rogue Farms in Tygh Valley is done. The last few acres where we’ll plant next year’s Dare™ spring malting barley were plowed, disced and harrowed last week. The tractors and other equipment were moved to the barns and put away for the season. Soon, the snow will arrive, covering the shoots of the Risk™ winter malting barley like a white blanket. This protects the shoots, as they go dormant over the winter, from extreme temperatures and keeps the volcanic loess of Tygh Valley nice and moist.

From ground to glass the Rogue Dare and Risk malting barley grown at our farm goes right into each bottle of Rogue Farms Oregon Single Malt Whiskey. Want to see how the Rogue barley makes it from our farm to your fist? Watch the Rogue Risk Barley Harvest here.
