Growing And Picking Our Own Soda
When Rogue Soda Jerk Steve Distasio is looking for inspiration – all he has to do is drive 62 miles to Rogue Farms.
Steve mixes honey harvested from our 7,140,289 honeybees in every batch of Rogue Soda. And when he wanted to create soda with a citrus and cucumber flavor, we picked cucumbers for him right from our garden.
So it was no surprise when we looked out the window the other day and there was Steve, wandering through the pumpkin patch.
Steve’s newest inspiration is Rogue Pumpkin Spice Soda. He likes to pick his own ingredients and doesn’t mind getting his hands dirty.
Our Dream pumpkins are exactly what he’s looking for. A bit on the small side, they’re deliciously sweet with a smooth orangey texture. Perfect for desserts, breads, beer and soda.
Today, Steve is back in the Rogue Sodaery in Eugene with his fresh picked pumpkins. To craft our Pumpkin Spice Soda, he’ll clean them, chunk them and roast them in the oven to caramelize the sugars and bring out that tasty pumpkin flavor. Then he kettle cooks the roasted pumpkins in a mixture of Rogue Farms honey, cane sugar, and his private blend of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and clove.
Rogue Pumpkin Spice Soda will be available on draft only starting next week for a limited time at Rogue Public Houses in Oregon and Washington.
